Mircea Ilie has over 13 years of experience in sustainability projects, during which he worked as a volunteer, manager, consultant or trainer. Since 2012, he works as Sustainability Leader at IKEA Romania and is responsible for all the components of a retailer’s sustainability: internal sustainability and resource efficiency, community involvement, education, employee involvement, sustainable products and services for costumers.
In 2006 he became co-founder of Viitor Plus – an association for sustainable development, where he is involved in all projects.
Between 2011 and 2014 he worked in the Environmental Coalition Committee of Romania, a national network of environmental NGOs, and between 2007 and 2012 in the Platform for Bucharest (that later become the Platform for Sustainable Cities), a network of NGOs promoting sustainable urban development.
He is an engineer of the Faculty of Computer Science of the Polytechnic University of Bucharest and is also specialized in Systemic Ecology and Sustainability, following a Master’s Degree at the University of Bucharest.
